A convicted drug offender was again arrested in a police anti-illegal drug operation afternoon of Feb 6, 2023 in San Miguel, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspect as Nelson Marcelo, 69, of Barangay 10, San Miguel.
Members of San Miguel Municipal Police Station and 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company nabbed Marcelo for allegedly selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P1,000.
Recovered from the suspect were 13 sachets of suspected shabu valued at P20,000.
Major Sullen Domingo, San Miguel police chief, said Marcelo is considered a newly identified drug personality, although he was previously convicted for a drug-related charge.
His involvement in the illegal drug trade reached the police after his name was included in the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) watchlist of illegal drug personalities.
Several assets also tipped the police of his alleged illicit trade.
Marcelo is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
