A gun attack left an ex-convict wounded late on Oct. 5 in Molo, Iloilo City.
Police identified the victim only as alias Ivan, 25, of Barangay San Juan, Molo district.
Ivan and his friend, alias Banhaw, were walking along Asico Subdivision in Barangay Salvacion Habog-Habog, Molo, around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday when the shooting happened.
The motorcycle-riding suspect allegedly fired at them. The two scampered in different directions, with Ivan running into an alley.
The assailant ran after him and fired at least three times in his direction. The suspect then sped off, leaving the wounded Ivan.
Capt. Ryan Christ Inot, Iloilo City Police Station 4 chief, said the victim is in stable condition and is being treated at the Western Visayas Medical Center.
Inot said they are looking at illegal drugs as the motive for the incident.
“There could have been a double-cross that happened or someone has failed to remit the proceeds from shabu sale,” he said.
Police said Ivan was imprisoned for a double-murder case. The incident happened while he was still a minor. He was also involved in drug-related offenses.
However, Inot said he had already served his sentence.
As this developed, police already have a person of interest in connection with the incident.
Inot did not divulge the gunman’s identity but claimed alias Banhaw was able to identify him.
