ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A 40-year-old former security guard voluntarily surrendered to village officials after shooting a neighbor Friday evening, January 8, at Sitio Perara in Barangay Poblacion, Sapian, Capiz.
Police Lieutenant Ma. Nanette V. Puasan, Sapian Municipal Police Station police chief, said Querico Gerapista surrendered hours after shooting Eduardo Parohinog of said place.
Puasan said Gerapista surrendered to the barangay officials of Poblacion around 9PM and was subsequently turned over to the police station.
Investigation by the Sapian police indicated that before the incident happened, Parohinog quarreled with the suspect over a bicycle sold by the former.
Gerapista went to the victim’s house and challenged him to a fight while the latter was drinking liquor with Ronel Varnal.
A heated argument ensued that led to the shooting.
Gerapista allegedly used a 12-guage shotgun.
Parohinog succumbed to gunshot injuries on his abdomen and right hand.
The victim died at the Capiz Emmanuel Hospital.
