Former member of the Batang Gilas roster and University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons’ guard James Spencer will be continuing his career in the NBL1 South semi-pro basketball league in Australia.
In his first two games in the league, Spencer registered 4.0 points, 1.5 assists, 1.0 rebound, and 1.0 steal while playing an average of 14 average minutes per game.
UP’s two-way guard is currently suiting up for the Dandenong Rangers, one of the basketball clubs in Spencer’s home state in Victoria.
The six-foot-four hooper showed his all-around skillset after filling up the stat sheet both offensively and defensively.
In his collegiate career with UP, Spencer was known for his intensity off the bench who can slash to the hoop or can spot up for an open three-point shot.
Also, his lateral quickness and strong upper body enabled him to match up with bigger guards up to the swingmen of the UAAP including Thirdy Ravena, Jamie Malonzo, CJ Cansino, and Rhenz Abando.
During his time with the Fighting Maroons in UAAP Season 82, Spencer logged a total of 12 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists in 14 games.
