Filipino boxing superstar Eumir Marcial is ready to boost the Philippines’ bid for an impressive Southeast Asian Games campaign.
On Nov. 17, 2025, Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham Tolentino confirmed in a statement that Marcial will lead the pack of Filipino boxers that will travel to Thailand for the 33rd edition of the SEA Games.
Tolentino also revealed that Marcial is already part of the country’s official athlete list, but they had to wait until he finished his latest professional boxing bout during the 50th anniversary of the Thrilla in Manila at the Araneta Coliseum last Oct. 30.
During that fight, Marcial had to dig deep and battled back from being knocked down, all thanks to a consistent jab counter that helped him prevail over the tough challenge of compatriot Eddy Colmenares.
The majority didn’t expect Marcial to sign up for another SEA Games stint after receiving heavy punishment to his upper section and face, but Tolentino said that it’s all systems go for one of the country’s top pugs.
Marcial will look to increase his SEA Games gold medal tally to five, aiming to pick up where Carlo Paalam, Ian Clark Bautista and Paul Bascon left off when they bagged the titles in 2023.
The pride of Zamboanga City is currently focusing on his pro career and is having an impressive start with an undefeated record of seven wins and four knockouts.
Marcial has only fought twice on home soil, spending most of his pro fights in the U.S., against Andrew Whitfield, Isiah Hart, Steven Pichardo, Ricardo Ruben Villalba and Bernard Joseph.
Aside from Marcial, Tolentino also shared that another undefeated Pinoy pro boxer, Weljon Mindoro, will also vie for the gold medal in Thailand.
Mindoro, one of the top Filipino prodigies who knocked out all of his 15 opponents, will banner the PHL in the middleweight division.
