Newly turned professional boxer Eumir Marcial will go back to his roots and reinforce team Philippines in the upcoming Asian Elite Boxing Championships which is under the amateur fighting level.
The Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) confirmed the development through its secretary-general Ed Picson.
Picson said that Marcial will join several Pinoy boxers in Dubai and will be one of the veteran sluggers that will guide them in their matches.
“He previously said he wants to go to Dubai on his own because his manager knows people there. But now he’s saying he will travel with the team,” Picson said.
Marcial will be joining the pool of Josie Gabuco, Maricel dela Torre, Mark Lester Durens, Marvin Tabamo, Junmilardo Ogayre, Jere Samuel dela Cruz and John Paul Panuayan in Dubai.
Unfortunately, three more Tokyo-bound boxers will not be available in the tournament as Ilongga Irish Magno, Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam are currently training in Thailand.
