Another police station in Iloilo province was placed on “quarantine” effective May 3, 2021.
Colonel Gilbert Gorero, Iloilo police chief, confirmed that Estancia Police Station was placed on quarantine after one of its personnel tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The temporary lockdown was done to give way to the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test on other station personnel Tuesday morning.
The police officer who was earlier found positive underwent swab test after his wife from Carles town contracted the virus.
Major Aldrin Lamera, Estancia police chief, said the move to subject all police personnel to swab test was recommended by the town’s rural health unit.
The Estancia police would still perform administrative functions while waiting for their swab test results.
In the meantime, Gorero has deployed members of the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company to take over the station’s other operational functions.
