BACOLOD City – After more than three months of hiding, a man who escaped from the police station of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental last year was arrested at Sitio Tios, Barangay Quintin Remo last Friday.
Police identified the suspect as Reco Layan, 23 of the said village.
Layan was arrested in July last year for murder charges, according to the police.
He escaped from the jail on October 14, 2020 when he was released from the custodial facility after complaining he was not feeling well. He was able to look for an opportunity to escape by riding a motorcycle parked outside the gate.
Reward money was even announced last year to be given to anyone who could provide a lead for his arrest.
Military and the police cornered him at the said village around 2AM during a manhunt operation.
Authorities recovered from him an MK2 hand fragmentation grenade.
