A female person deprived of liberty (PDL) who escaped from the Capiz Rehabilitation Center (CRC) early Thursday, October 16, was captured that same afternoon.
Jail warden Arjuna Yngcong said the inmate, Ginalyn Amangca, 30, of Barangay Libas in Roxas City, was found hiding at a friend’s house in Barangay Lawa-an.
Amangca escaped from detention around 2 a.m. by using a plastic pail as an improvised ladder to scale the facility’s perimeter fence.
Her absence was discovered during the morning headcount, prompting a hot pursuit operation by Roxas City police and CRC jail guards.
Amangca was previously arrested for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Yngcong said Amangca was due for transfer to the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong but fled because she missed her child.
She has since been returned to the CRC, while possible administrative charges are being considered against the jail guard assigned to her.
