Enough supply of pork, poultry products for holidays assured

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Officer Dr. Renante Decena assured consumers that the province has enough supply of pork, and poultry products for the holidays.
Decena said the price of pork is currently at P200 per kilo in Negros Occidental, and P220 in Bacolod City.
Dressed chicken is sold at P150 to 155 per kilo.
Decena said Manila and Cebu are currently the outlet for backyard and commercial meat producers.
He also said that the province currently exports around 800 to 1,000 hogs to Metro Manila every week.
Eighty percent comes from backyard raisers and another 20 percent from commercial raisers, Decena added.
Around 9,000 market hogs are also being released every month.
Decena said local hog raisers are optimistic for an early recovery despite the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
