eMerch: The University of San Agustin’s 1st eCommerce Portal

The University of San Agustin, through its Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), once again trailblazed a historic first in Iloilo City. It was the creation of their University’s e-commerce – eMerch, a shortened term for e-merchandise.
This 2-year project of the University ITSO was envisioned in 2019 when the need for the University’s intellectual property to be commercialized arose.
In 2018, the University mark was granted a trademark registration; thus, the idea of commercializing and giving value to the mark came to mind.
ITSO is the office responsible for assisting the registration of many local brands in Iloilo, including Dinagyang in 2018.
Amidst the pandemic in 2020, the University of San Agustin ITSO commercialized digitally and commenced work on the University e-commerce. Envisioning being the first University to have an e-commerce portal, the University of San Agustin was determined to pursue the project. And on September 27, 2022, the University of San Agustin launched its first University e-Commerce portal.
The USA-eMerch launched with 17 manuals from the Medical Laboratory Science, the pilot program of ITSO for its commercialization project; the Pharmacy and Biology Program. The Manuals are in a digital format.
Upon purchase, the manual shall generate a specialized license for the purchaser to lower the number of infringement incidents and to track the source of infringement in the University, fulfilling its part as the Intellectual Property Office of the University of San Agustin.
The portal allows students, faculty, and alums to purchase University produced books, manuals, and merchandise using GCash, PayMaya, or GrabPay. All online merchandise can be picked up at the University of San Agustin Bookstore.
