BACOLOD City – Eleven policemen were wounded after they figured in a road accident at Purok 1, Barangay Caningay, Candoni, Negros Occidental yesterday.
Based on a police report, eight of the wounded cops were identified as Patrolmen Jerome Tolentino, Joey Bana-ag, Eric Abela, Emam James Apucay, and Bryan Ambaja, and Corporal Mark Jel Salazar, John Arevalo, and Reggie Tacdor, personnel of 604th Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-6.
Three other wounded cops have yet to be identified.
Police Major Ruel Culanag, Candoni town police chief, said the policemen were conducting road security and routine inspection when Acupay reportedly failed to control the patrol car while approaching the descending part of the road.
“Wala niya ma anticipate na dulhugon, probably indi siya familiar sa lugar,” he added.
The vehicle turned turtle after hitting a barrier at the roadside, the police report said.
Culanag said the cops suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.
