Electric bill collector robbed of PHP 100K in Capiz

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police are investigating an alleged robbery involving a couple who collected electric bill payments for the Capiz Electric Cooperative (Capelco) in Maayon, Capiz.
The incident reportedly occurred around 9:40 a.m. on Dec. 5, 2025, at Sitio Silab, Brgy. Batabat, while the couple was en route to remit collections to the Capelco office.
The female collector, identified as alias “Maricel,” 42, of Brgy. East Villa Flores, Maayon, was with her husband, alias “Dodoy”, on a motorcycle when two unidentified men on another motorcycle blocked their path.
According to the victims, the suspects, who wore jackets and bonnets, declared a hold-up and took a bag containing PHP 100,000, which included PHP 14,000 of their personal money.
Police Captain Danilo Lauron, chief of Maayon Municipal Police Station, said the suspects fled in an unknown direction after the robbery.
Investigators are working to verify the couple’s account and are pursuing leads to identify the perpetrators.
