It runs in the blood.
Eldrew Yulo, the younger brother of 2024 Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, is off to a rousing start in the FIG Junior World Artistic Gymnastics Championships after qualifying for four gold medal events on Nov. 20, 2025, at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.
The 17-year-old stalwart had his best finish in the floor exercise event, where he placed second with a score of 14.233.
Yulo had the chance to overtake the top spot in the event, but Arsenii Dukhno of Russia put up a stronger outing and clinched first place with a score of 14.500.
After a strong first impression in the floor exercise, Yulo showed he could do more after ending in fifth place in the vault event, scoring 13.750.
Yulo kicked off the vault on a high note after tallying 14.200 in his first attempt, but a costly landing in the next phase only garnered him 13.300 points.
Aside from the floor exercise and the vault, Yulo also managed to enter the top 8 of the high bar event, finishing with 13.700 points to sneak his way to sixth place.
Yulo then placed 15th in the men’s all-around qualifications with a total score of 78.332, which was enough to steer him to four gold medal events in the final phase.
Boosted by the attendance of his family, including his brother Carlos, Eldrew capped off the FIG Juniors with a convincing elimination campaign and is ready to exert more effort in the gold medal rounds.
Yulo is eager to surpass his performance at the 2024 Junior Asian Championships, where he won the silver medal in the vault, and the 2024 Pacific Rim Championships, where he took home silver in the all-around.
