BACOLOD City – A senior citizen died after she was hit by a taxi at Barangay Bata here last Friday.
Killed in the accident was Susana Franco, 74, of Barangay 3, Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Police Staff Sergeant Richard Dema-ala, traffic investigator of Police Station 3, said the victim was crossing the pedestrian lane when the taxi driver failed to notice her.
“Pag amo na abi oras, medyo dulom pa man gid na da. According sa driver, daw na bulaga siya,” Dema-ala said.
The victim was supposed to go to her doctor here when the accident happened around 5:40 a.m.
Franco was taken to a hospital here, but she later passed away.
“Medyo dasig-dasig man gid siguro padalagan niya (taxi driver) because sang impact,” Dema-ala said.
Dema-ala said the taxi driver was released from police custody after the lapse of the reglementary detention.
Dema-ala said they are still waiting for the decision of the victim’s family if they will file a case or not.
