BACOLOD City – An elderly woman died after she was hit by a motorcycle along Araneta Street in Barangay Tangub here last Saturday.
Killed in the accident was Josefina Antipuesto, 85, of the said village.
Police Staff Sergeant Celerino Arrollado, traffic investigator of Police Station 8, said that Antipuesto allegedly suddenly crossed the street when the accident happened.
Arrollado said that the victim did not cross using the pedestrian lane. Thus, the motorcycle rider probably did not notice her in the dimly lit portion of the road, he added.
The motorcycle rider was tailing a group of motorcycles on their way to the seaport that day.
Arrollado said the motorcycle rider also suffered minor injuries. The victim passed away at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here, he added.
Arrollado said that both parties have reached an initial settlement. The motorcycle rider will be released from police custody after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary detention.
