BACOLOD CITY – An 80-year-old woman died after being run over by a pick-up truck in Barangay Taculing on Thursday morning.
Police identified the victim as Angelita Casguite, a resident of the same village.
According to Police Major Ramel Sarona, head of the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), the accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. while the vehicle was headed toward Mansilingan Road.
Sarona said the victim was walking along the roadside when she slipped and fell, leading to the vehicle running over her.
Casguite sustained severe head and body injuries, which caused her death.
The 58-year-old driver is currently in police custody as authorities conduct an investigation and coordinate with the victim’s family.
