Elderly woman killed as truck crashes into her house

BACOLOD City – An elderly woman died after truck crashed into her house at Sitio Cantulingi, Barangay Manlipac, Bais City, Negros Oriental last Wednesday.

Police identified the victim as Milagros Jueves, 64.

Police investigation indicated that the accident occurred after the truck driven by 38-year-old Levi Garsula lost its brakes.

Garsula swerved the vehicle and crashed into the victim’s house on the roadside. Jueves was tending to her animals near her house when the accident happened.

The victim’s legs were amputated, according to a report from Negros Oriental police. She was later taken to Bais City District Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

The truck driver allegedly fled after the incident and remains at large.
