BACOLOD City – Police are looking into grudges as a possible motive behind the killing of an elderly man in Barangay Taculing here last Monday.
The victim was identified as Eduard Tornia, 60, of the said village, who has disabilities.
Police Lieutenant Dax Santillan, officer-in-charge of Police Station 6, said the victim was watching television at home when the suspect identified as 29-year-old Louie John Barte suddenly entered his room and allegedly stabbed him.
Santillan said that Tornia was probably hit first in the head before he was stabbed in his face. He was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
Police recovered from the scene a steel rod, which was used in the incident.
Santillan said that Barte was later arrested in pursuit operation with the help of his sibling.
Santillan said that the victim and the suspect previously figured in an argument last month.
Murder charges will be filed against the suspect, according to Santillan. He said they will have to check if Barte has other records with the police.
