BACOLOD City – An elderly man was stabbed to death at Purok Saging, Barangay Banga, Candoni, Negros Occidental on Monday night.
Killed was Francisco Dodria, 60.
Captain Junji Liba, municipal police chief, said Dodria and suspect Samson Baladhay, 60, were drinking liquor when a misunderstanding ensued between them.
Liba said Baladhay allegedly stabbed Dodria several times on different parts of his body.
Dodria was declared dead in a hospital.
Liba said Baladhay surrendered to authorities, but he will be released from police custody after the 36-hour reglementary detention period.
Liba said Dodria was not a native of the town but because of his work there, he stayed there for good, until the suspect offered his shelter to him.
“Daw gin sapupo na na siya sang suspect. Wala man sila ga away, hinubog lang gid,” the police chief added.
Liba said Baladhay’s family offered to take care of Dodria’s burial.
