BACOLOD City – A senior citizen was gunned down by an unidentified suspect at Sitio Hinagupitan, Barangay Dian-ay, Escalante City, Negros Occidental Tuesday.
Slain was Warlito Pabuaya, 65, of the said village.
Major Gil Despi, city police chief, said Pabuaya and his wife were preparing dinner when the latter heard gunshot and saw her husband collapse.
She then saw blood on her husband’s body, prompting her to seek help from their neighbors. The victim died on the spot.
Police believed that the assailant may have been hiding in the sugarcane plantation some three meters away from the victim’s kitchen.
Recovered from the scene was the plastic casing of a 12-gauge shotgun ammunition.
Despi said they do not have any person of interest as of this time, adding that they also have yet to establish the motive of the killing.
He said the victim, according to his family, had no enemies and threats prior to the gun attack.
