BACOLOD City – A man believed to be suffering from a mental illness allegedly killed his father at Barangay Mamburao, Pamplona Negros Oriental on August 9.
Slain was Pedro Regala, 78, of the said village.
Investigation indicated that Regala was walking when his son, Solini, 42, allegedly hacked and burned him to death.
Police responded after receiving a call for assistance. When they arrived, they found the victim’s burned remains in a grassy area.
Police arrested Solini in pursuit operation and confiscated from him a bolo, which authorities believed he used in the crime.
According to the police, the suspect didn’t recognize the victim as his father which probably triggered him to commit the crime.
Solini is detained at the police station for the filing of appropriate charges.
