ROXAS CITY, Capiz — An 85-year-old man died after he was hacked by his grandson Monday afternoon, May 18, in Barangay Bitoon Ilaya, Cuartero, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as alias “Bonie,” while the suspect was identified as alias “Josh,” 25, both residents of the barangay.
Police Capt. Jessie Lepaña, Cuartero Municipal Police Station chief, said that while the victim was lying in his room, the suspect arrived and, without saying anything, hacked him in the neck and hands with a bolo.
The house occupants did not hear any words or commotion inside the room during the incident.
They believed the suspect might have suffered a nervous breakdown, which may have led him to commit the crime.
The suspect fled but was arrested by authorities in Jaro, Iloilo, and turned over to the Cuartero Municipal Police Station, while appropriate charges were being prepared against him.
