BACOLOD CITY — A murder complaint is being prepared by police against a 27-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his 77-year-old uncle to death in Barangay Galicia, Ilog, Negros Occidental, on Saturday.
Police Maj. Randy Babor, chief of the Ilog Municipal Police Station, said the suspect was lying in bed when he suddenly went outside their house, shouting uncontrollably.
His uncle followed him to calm him down, but the suspect allegedly punched him.
When the victim lost consciousness, the suspect reportedly continued attacking him, then grabbed a knife and allegedly stabbed him in the back of the neck and feet before covering him with sacks of unhusked rice.
Relatives called for help, and police later arrested the suspect after a brief chase.
Babor said the victim was declared dead at a hospital.
He added that the suspect was reportedly mentally unstable, based on accounts from his family.
Despite this, the victim’s relatives said they are willing to press charges.
Babor confirmed the suspect had been living with his uncle in the same house.
