An elderly man from Miag-ao, Iloilo died of apparent drowning on Tuesday afternoon, July 8.
The victim, identified only as alias Bobong, 68, was found floating in the seawaters of Barangay Kirayan Norte, Miag-ao.
A resident named Edwin discovered the body at around 2:42 p.m. and immediately alerted barangay officials and local police.
Authorities helped retrieve the victim from the water.
Members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) rushed him to the Miag-ao Rural Health Unit.
He was declared dead at around 4 p.m. the same day.
Initial investigation revealed that Bobong, a resident of Kirayan Norte, suffered from epilepsy.
Authorities believe he may have suffered a seizure while casting a fishing net, locally known as panglaya, and drowned shortly after.
