BACOLOD City – An elderly man died while another was seriously wounded after they figured in a road accident along Lizares-Araneta Streets here last Wednesday.
Police identified the fatality as Herman Abrot Sr., 62, of Barangay Tangub here.
Police Major Jovil Sedel, head of Police Station 1, said Abrot was standing near the traffic light post talking to a tricycle driver when he was allegedly hit by a Mitsubishi Xpander driven by 42-year-old Eric Lapi-an of Barangay Singcang-Airport here.
Sedel said Abrot was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead while Lapi-an is confined in another hospital.
Sedel said they could not conclude if Lapi-an dozed off or was drunk when the accident happened.
But, he claimed that the driver was probably speeding which caused the accident.
