An elderly man was arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation on the afternoon of June 29 in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
The suspect, identified as 60-year-old Vicente, was apprehended at his home in Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao district.
Operatives from Iloilo City Police Station 10 arrested Vicente after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP 15,000.
Authorities seized 20 more sachets of suspected shabu from his possession.
The confiscated drugs weighed around 50 grams and had an estimated standard drug price of PHP 340,000.
Despite the significant volume of drugs found in his possession, Vicente denied being involved in the drug trade.
He admitted, however, to using illegal drugs.
Vicente claimed that using shabu energized him.
Under the influence of the drug, he said he was able to complete household chores.
Without it, he admitted that he felt too lazy to move.
Following his arrest, Vicente remains in police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
