BACOLOD City – An elderly man died after he was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the street in Barangay Damgo, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Aurelio Artus, 78, of the said village.
Police Staff Sergeant Henry Mangana III, traffic investigator of E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station, said Artus came from his house when he was hit by an alleged speeding motorcycle driven by Levy Mahinay, 20, of Barangay Alicante.
“Based sa witness, dasig padlagan ka motor kay halin kurbada,” he added.
Mangana said Mahinay borrowed the motorcycle from his brother to go to the town proper when the accident happened.
Artus suffered leg and head injuries and was declared dead on arrival at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.
Mangana said the victim’s son will pursue the filing of charges against Mahinay, who was wounded in the accident after suffering a fractured left arm.
