BACOLOD CITY – An elderly couple died after their motorcycle collided with a pickup truck Wednesday at Purok Violetas, Barangay Balingasag, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
The victims were identified as Alex Ortega, 60, and his wife, Cecilia, 65, both residents of the same village.
Police reported that the couple, traveling on a motorcycle, attempted to cross the highway around 5:35 a.m. when a pickup truck, driven by a 38-year-old resident of Cadiz City, was approaching in the inner lane from Bacolod City toward the southern part of the province.
The collision caused the couple to fall from their motorcycle and hit the pavement, resulting in severe injuries.
Both were declared dead at a hospital.
