Local government units (LGUs) in Iloilo are set to streamline services, improve transparency, and reduce bureaucratic inefficiencies with the integration of the eGov PH app and eLGU system.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) launched the eGov PH app and eLGU system on Feb. 26 as part of its initiative to digitize government services and enhance public access to essential transactions.
“With eGov PH and eLGU, we aim to modernize, streamline, and bring government services closer to the people, making them more accessible, efficient, and sustainable,” said DICT-6 Director Ralph Joseph Moncatar.
Moncatar also encouraged local leaders and citizens to embrace technology for community development and adapt to changing times.
The eGov PH app consolidates various government services into a single, user-friendly platform.
June Vincent Manuel Gaudan, director of the DICT’s Government Digital Transformation Bureau, said users can view their Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) ID directly through the app.
The app also allows users to conduct essential government transactions online, including services for the Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), and the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), among others.
Gaudan emphasized that users must register with their mobile numbers and complete an identity verification process using facial recognition technology.
Verified accounts have full access to all available services, while unverified accounts have limited functionality, he added.
Meanwhile, the eLGU system, integrated into the eGov PH app, enables users to access local government services alongside national services.
Residents can apply for business permits and licenses, request civil registry documents (birth, marriage, and death certificates), obtain cedulas, and more through the platform.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said the DICT’s digital initiatives will simplify transactions, minimize costs, and strengthen the connection between citizens and government agencies.
“This is a great tool for all of us and will undoubtedly ensure that Filipinos receive the efficient and accessible services they rightfully deserve,” he said.
Iloilo Provincial Administrator Raul Banias highlighted the importance of a whole-of-nation approach to digital transformation, advocating for a unified system rather than individual LGUs developing their own platforms.
DICT data shows that only two LGUs in Iloilo, Estancia and Tigbauan, have yet to be integrated into the eGov PH app and eLGU system.
The DICT aims to complete the full integration of all LGUs in Iloilo by 2026 as part of the government’s digital transformation initiative.
