This study assessed the effect of K-12 curriculum implementation and online classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic on the performance of graduates in various licensure examinations administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in 2024.
A total of 20,890 out of 44,764 examinees, or 46.67%, passed the March 2024 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers – Elementary. West Visayas State University (WVSU) and Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) ranked No. 2, while ISAT University ranked No. 1. The passing rate for first-time takers was 76.6%. The Western Visayas Region performed well in this examination, with a 72.38% passing rate.
A total of 50,539 out of 85,980 examinees, or 58.78%, passed the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers – Secondary (LEPT). Among them, 41,787 were first-time takers, with an average passing rate of 78.54%. WVSU ranked No. 3, while Philippine Normal University – Visayas (PNU-Visayas) ranked No. 4 in this examination.
In the August 2024 Mechanical Engineers Licensure Examination, 1,144 out of 3,484 examinees nationwide, or 32.84%, passed. The Western Visayas Region produced 85 passers out of 266 takers, with a 31.95% passing rate. The passing rate for first-time takers was 41.71%.
A total of 56 out of 113 examinees, or 49.56%, passed the Certified Plant Mechanics (CPM) Licensure Examination. The passing rate for first-time takers was 52.63%.
In the August 2024 Registered Electrical Engineers Licensure Examination, 1,655 out of 3,058 examinees nationwide, or 54.12%, passed. The Western Visayas Region recorded 114 passers out of 203 takers, with a 56.16% passing rate. The first-time takers’ passing rate was 63.06%.
Meanwhile, in the August 2024 Registered Master Electrician Licensure Examination, 335 out of 834 examinees nationwide, or 40.17%, passed. The Western Visayas Region had 14 passers out of 25 takers, with a 56% passing rate. The first-time takers’ passing rate was 68.42%.
A total of 3,997 out of 5,398 examinees, or 74%, passed the 2024 Midwives Licensure Examination. State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) ranked No. 7 in this examination. The Western Visayas Region recorded 171 passers out of 203 takers, with a 84.24% passing rate. The passing rate for first-time takers was 87.78%.
In the November 2024 Pharmacist Licensure Examination, 2,905 out of 3,778 examinees, or 76.89%, passed. Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod and Central Philippine University (CPU) ranked No. 3 and No. 7, respectively. The Western Visayas Region produced 190 passers out of 240 takers, with a 79.17% passing rate. The first-time takers’ passing rate was 90.22%.
A total of 688 out of 951 examinees, or 74.34%, passed the November 2024 Chemical Engineers Licensure Examination. UP Visayas and CPU ranked No. 1 and No. 7, respectively. The Western Visayas Region recorded 57 passers out of 83 takers, with a 68.67% passing rate. The first-time takers’ passing rate was 81.97%.
In the October 2024 Electronics Engineers Licensure Examination, 999 out of 1,964 examinees nationwide, or 50.87%, passed. The Western Visayas Region had 47 passers out of 93 takers, with a 50.54% passing rate. The first-time takers’ passing rate was 41.18%.
A total of 1,126 out of 1,591 examinees nationwide, or 70.77%, passed the October 2024 Electronics Technician Licensure Examination. The Western Visayas Region produced 86 passers out of 133 takers, with a 64.7% passing rate. The first-time takers’ passing rate was 66.7%.
