Team USA shooting guard Anthony Edwards recently revealed that he was drug-tested after winning the gold medal in Paris together with Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant on August 20, 2024.
Edwards announced what happened during the Boardroom Talks at Fanatics Fest in a special guesting stint together with Durant.
The Minnesota Timberwolves franchise player said that after winning the Olympic gold medal, they couldn’t really celebrate because they had to be drug tested following their win against the home team France.
For Edwards, Curry being drug-tested was unsurprising and they saw it coming, as the Golden State Warriors guard and the NBA’s All-Time leader in three-pointers made lifted Team USA in the playoff round.
There was no perfect time for Curry to explode starting in the semifinals when they pulled off a come-from-behind win over Nikola Jokic and Serbia, 95-91.
Down by as much as 17 points in the game, Curry displayed his best shooting night in the Olympics after erupting for 36 points built from nine-made three-pointers.
Curry then followed up his monster game against Serbia in the gold medal match, scoring 24 markers on an efficient 8/13 shooting from the field.
Meanwhile, Edwards and Durant provided the much-needed offensive punch for Team USA as the duo hit big shots to silence the wild French crowd in the gold medal game.
With another gold medal on the Olympic stage, Team USA just bagged its fifth straight victory in the Global Summer Games and will seek for a sixth straight gold in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
