BAGO CITY, Negros Occidental – The Energy Development Corp. turned over 12 laptops to four upland schools in Bago City on June 17 through its Adopt-a-School partnership with the Department of Education, Division of Bago City.
The recipient schools are Cristeta A. Dormido Elementary School, Mailum Elementary School, RM Araneta Elementary School and Ramon Torres Louisiana National High School.
“We are confident that this contribution will enable the talented teachers in these schools to effectively utilize technology, leading to a substantial improvement in the quality of education and a richer learning experience for their students,” said Erwin Magallanes, head of EDC’s Negros Corporate Relations Department.
Through its SIKAT Adopt-a-School Program, First Gen-EDC is committed to supporting its host communities.
This commitment reflects First Gen-EDC’s belief that investing in education helps transform learners into future change-drivers in their communities and spheres of influence.
“We thank EDC for not only developing energy, but also developing our learners,” said Helen B. Dela Cruz, school head of Ramon Torres Louisiana National High School.
She added that “it takes a village to raise a child,” recounting how her daughter and nephew—both recipients of the SIKAT scholarship program—have since achieved their goals, underscoring the long-term impact of EDC’s flagship education initiative.
On June 9, EDC employees and contractors participated in the 2025 Brigada Eskwela kickoff program, joining a four-day school maintenance activity to support DepEd’s theme, “Sama-sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa.”
The kickoff also featured a tree-planting activity led by the Office of the Vice President, which EDC also supported.
