AFTER playing through an ankle injury in the FIBA World Cup, San Miguel Beermen superstar center June Mar Fajardo is doubtful for the East Asia Super League Terrific 12 tournament in Macau.
The 5-time MVP center hurt his ankle in their opening game in the FIBA World Cup against France but played through it until the tournament concluded.
SMB coach Leo Austria confirmed that Fajardo will be doubtful to play in Macau, but will join the team and will be on the active roster.
“Talaga ngang puso niya nasa bayan na even though hindi playable ‘yun, pinilit niya for the love of the country. He will join us. Mag-uuniform siya. Isa ‘yun sa mga hinihintay but we will see kung ano ang maganda para sa kanya,” Austria stated.
The Beermen and the rest of the management will leave for Macau on Monday.
The SMB squad will be reinforced by one of the top-performing imports last Commissioner’s Cup, Lester Prosper of Columbian Dyip.
