Duo falls in P1.9 M drug sting in Dumangas

Two persons were arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation early morning of Nov. 1 in Dumangas, Iloilo.

The suspects were identified as alias Romar, 39, and Mark, a student, both residents of Barangay Jardin, Dumangas.

It was gathered that Romar’s brother, a certain Errol, escaped from the cops.

Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6, together with the Dumangas Municipal Police Station, arrested the two suspects in a buy-bust operation around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday at Barangay Jardin.

They allegedly connived in selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P15,500.

Recovered from their possession were 18 more sachets of suspected shabu, cash of P1,000, a mobile phone, and illegal drug paraphernalia

Captain Glenn Soliman, RPDEU-6 team leader, said the seized drugs weighed around 280 grams with a standard drug price value of P1,904,000.

Romar was allegedly the target of the operation while Mark served as his runner.

Based on police monitoring, Romar is one of the biggest sources of shabu in Dumangas and possibly in neighboring towns.

He allegedly sourced his supply through a contact from the National Bilibid Prison.

It was gathered that Romar had a previous drug-related arrest.

The two suspects are now detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

On Oct. 28, two persons were also arrested in a buy bust operation in Dumangas, Iloilo.

Police only identified the suspects as Rommel and Denise.

The duo were yielded with 100 grams of shabu valued at P680,000.
