Dumarao top cop, four others sacked
ROXAS CITY, Capiz The police chief of Dumarao, Capiz and four other police officers were relieved for alleged violation of election laws.
Police Capt. Wilfredo Venus and the four police officers were ordered relieved from their posts after some concerned citizens accused them of actively and brazenly supporting a mayoralty candidate in the town.
Senior Superintendent Canilo A. Fuentes, Capiz Provincial Police Office police director, said Venus was transferred to Buruanga in Aklan province, while the four police officers were transferred to Negros Occidental.
He said the directive came from PNP Regional Headquarters in order to neutralize the heated political situation.
Fuentes added that the move is to distance police personnel from partisan activities.
