Dumangas-Barotac Nvo. Road Enhances Travel Efficiency

The new Dumangas-Barotac Nuevo Diversion Road, built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), has significantly improved travel to northern and central Iloilo as well as neighboring provinces of Aklan and Capiz.

Constructed by the DPWH Iloilo 2nd District Engineering Office, the ₱29.3-million project features a 634.15-linear meter long, 13.40-meter wide road equipped with solar-powered LED streetlights and reflectorized pavement markings. These enhancements aim to boost road safety and provide a well-lit and clearly marked path for motorists.

District Engineer Allan Rey R. Pajimna reported that the diversion road facilitates faster and safer commuting between Barotac Nuevo and Dumangas. Regional Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel emphasized that the project benefits the local population and promotes economic growth in the area.

“This new diversion road is a vital step toward improving regional connectivity. It will significantly reduce travel time and provide smoother, safer transport for residents and commuters,” Oropel said.

The diversion road is expected to ease traffic congestion along existing routes, providing a more efficient travel experience for all users.

“This alternate route is designed to enhance the overall travel experience by reducing travel time, ensuring safer journeys, and fostering local transportation development,” Oropel added.
