A short film directed and produced by Aklanons is the lone finalist from Western Visayas in this year’s Sine Kabataan Short Film Lab and Festival.
Directed by Kieth Earl Rebaño and produced by Doxford Perlas, Due Date na ni Judith is among 10 projects selected by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) for the 8th edition of the national short film program, which nurtures young filmmakers from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Rebaño, a BA Communication and Media Studies student from the University of the Philippines Visayas and a native of Aklan, was chosen through a nationwide story-pitching process.
His film is one of 10 finalists that will receive a grant for production and take part in intensive film labs led by industry professionals.
Due Date na ni Judith follows the story of Judith, a woman in her mid-20s who is always on the verge of giving birth.
It is a satirical take on the burden of excessive debts and loans, drawing parallels to the physical and emotional weight of pregnancy.
According to the FDCP, each finalist will receive a PHP200,000 production grant to complete their short films.
The films will premiere during Philippine Film Industry Month in September.
To support the film, the public may follow “Due Date na ni Judith” on Facebook, Instagram (@judithbuntis), and X (@judithbuntis). Interested sponsors or partners may contact producer Doxford Perlas at doxmakesfilms@gmail.com or 0949 6
