DTI urges shoppers to check PS, ICC marks
MANILA — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is urging consumers to look for the Philippine Quality and Safety (PS) Mark and Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) sticker when buying products covered by the government’s mandatory certification scheme.
The certification marks help consumers identify products that have undergone prescribed quality and safety evaluations.
To bring certified products and consumer safety information closer to the public, the DTI launched the Certified Products Expo on Oct. 13, 2026.
Organized by the Consumer Protection and Advocacy Bureau and Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS), in partnership with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the expo featured 70 booths showcasing products compliant with DTI-BPS mandatory certification and FDA regulations.
Visitors explored displays of electrical appliances, motorcycle helmets, liquefied petroleum gas products, Christmas lights, ceramic plumbing fixtures and tiles.
The FDA also showcased regulated products, including soaps, beauty products and over-the-counter medicines.
Participating exhibitors offered promotional deals and discounts during the event to encourage consumer engagement.
Beyond product displays, information sessions led by DTI-BPS and FDA experts provided practical guidance on product certification and regulatory requirements.
The sessions also covered online business verification and methods for checking FDA-licensed establishments.
The activities aimed to help consumers make safer and more informed purchasing decisions.
Formerly known as the Certified Products Fair and traditionally held at the DTI main office parking lot, the annual event moved to a popular mall venue this year to reach a broader audience.
The expo was held as part of National Standards Week, organized by the DTI-BPS as the country’s National Standards Body.
This year’s observance highlighted the role of product standards in protecting consumers while supporting the country’s transition toward affordable and clean energy.
The theme also aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7, which promotes access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy.
