The Department of Trade and Industry has facilitated the Manila leg of the Galician Naval Cluster’s Southeast Asia business mission, opening new discussions on potential collaboration in shipbuilding, maritime services, and industrial modernization.
The engagement was organized through the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Madrid, which has been strengthening commercial linkages between Spanish industries and Philippine development priorities.
ACLUNAGA, the Galician Naval Cluster representing more than 130 maritime and shipbuilding companies, brought five firms to the Philippines for meetings with government agencies, local shipyards, and private-sector partners.
Discussions centered on opportunities in vessel procurement, shipyard upgrades, technical consulting, knowledge and technology transfer, and possible joint manufacturing programs.
The group emphasized the Philippines’ strong potential in shipbuilding and highlighted complementarities between Galician expertise in naval construction, maritime engineering, and industrial systems and the country’s expanding maritime sector.
The visiting Spanish firms expressed interest in continuing talks with Philippine counterparts to identify specific collaboration areas and to evaluate long-term partnership prospects.
The DTI said the mission reflects the results of PTIC-Madrid’s commercial diplomacy efforts aimed at linking Spain’s industrial strengths with Philippine economic priorities.
