ANNECY, France – The Department of Trade and Industry marked a major milestone in elevating the Philippines’ global creative presence through its successful participation in the Annecy International Animation Film Market (MIFA) 2025, held June 10 to 13.
“Under the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Philippines is proud to stand among the world’s best at MIFA 2025, ready to bring our nation’s compelling stories to the global stage,” said DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque.
“Our robust presence at MIFA 2025—bolstered by the new co-production agreement with France—underscores our unwavering commitment to expanding international partnerships, opening new markets and driving sustained growth for Filipino creative talent,” Roque added.
The DTI curated a strong lineup of Filipino studios and creators to highlight the country’s animation capabilities.
This effort was supported by the Creative Content Creators Association of the Philippines Inc. and the Animation Council of the Philippines Inc.
The DTI’s Export Marketing Bureau, with backing from the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Paris, organized business matching, market scoping and strategic meetings with potential global partners.
The Philippines’ participation at MIFA 2025 was further strengthened by the Philippines–France Cinematographic Co-Production Agreement.
Signed in May 2025 during the Cannes International Film Festival, the treaty enables Filipino and French producers to jointly create films, TV shows and animation projects recognized as national productions in both countries.
