The Department of Trade and Industry has launched the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark through a new online portal to promote safer and more trustworthy digital trade.
The initiative helps consumers identify legitimate online merchants and assures them they are transacting with businesses that follow fair, transparent and safe practices.
The digital badge gives certified sellers a competitive edge in a marketplace where reputation is key.
The E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark is issued to businesses that comply with fair e-commerce practices, consumer protection rules and standards under Republic Act No. 11967, or the Internet Transactions Act of 2023.
DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque stressed the importance of building trust in digital transactions.
“Trust is essential in the digital marketplace,” Roque said.
“Through the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark, we are empowering consumers to shop with greater confidence while encouraging businesses to follow established standards and uphold responsible online practices,” she added.
Roque noted that the nationwide rollout is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive under the Bagong Pilipinas initiative to protect consumers from deceptive and unfair trade practices.
The Trustmark must be prominently displayed on websites, seller profiles or product pages, and may also be posted at the registered place of business for physical stores.
To apply, businesses must complete the online form at trustmark.dti.gov.ph and submit required documents, including registration certificates from the DTI, Securities and Exchange Commission or Cooperative Development Authority, and the Bureau of Internal Revenue Certificate of Registration.
For more information, stakeholders may contact the DTI E-Commerce Bureau via email at ecommerce@dti.gov.ph or by phone at (+632) 7791-3282.
