DTI Iloilo, Tigbauan launch OTOP Hub for local MSMEs

TIGBAUAN, Iloilo — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo and the Tigbauan municipal government strengthened their partnership in promoting local products and supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through the opening of the municipality’s One Town, One Product (OTOP) Hub on Oct. 5.
The two parties also signed a memorandum of agreement formalizing their collaboration on the initiative.
Tigbauan Mayor Virgilio T. Teruel and DTI Iloilo Officer-in-Charge Provincial Director Ma. Dorita D. Chavez signed the agreement.
They were joined by Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist Florenda Abian and Municipal Government Department Head I and Tourism Officer Phoebe M. Torrico.
Vice Mayor Lugen Ortilano, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, department heads and other stakeholders witnessed the signing and launch.
Through the OTOP Philippines Program, DTI promotes products rooted in the culture, resources, skills and identity of local communities.
The OTOP Hub provides a dedicated space where MSMEs can showcase and market their products, helping entrepreneurs reach more consumers and explore wider market opportunities.
In Tigbauan, the initiative is expected to increase the visibility of locally made products while complementing the municipality’s tourism promotion efforts.
The hub also gives local entrepreneurs an additional platform to introduce their products to residents and visitors.
DTI Iloilo acknowledged the support of the Tigbauan municipal government, particularly its Tourism Office, in facilitating the initiative and promoting locally produced goods.
The OTOP Philippines Program was institutionalized under Republic Act No. 11960 in 2023 to strengthen government support for locally developed products and help MSMEs improve their competitiveness and market access.
The establishment of the Tigbauan OTOP Hub reflects continuing collaboration between DTI Iloilo and local governments to create market opportunities for MSMEs, encourage entrepreneurship and promote products that represent the distinct identity of their communities.
