The Department of Trade and Industry Iloilo reaffirmed its commitment to promoting values-driven entrepreneurship during the Seminar on the Ethics of Franchising held August 8, 2025, at the Iloilo Grand Hotel.
The event brought together entrepreneurs, franchisors, and prospective franchisees to explore how ethical principles can strengthen business partnerships and support long-term success.
In her welcome remarks, Provincial Director Ma. Dinda R. Tamayo emphasized that ethics are the backbone of sustainable business.
“Franchising is more than just duplicating a brand. It’s about building relationships founded on trust, transparency, and mutual respect,” she said, adding that ethical conduct fosters both business growth and public confidence.
The seminar featured Ken Lerona, founder and president of Cornelius Magnate Engagement and Consulting OPC, as the main resource speaker.
In his talk, Ethics as the Foundation of Franchising, Lerona discussed how values such as honesty, accountability, and shared responsibility are essential to successful franchise operations.
He shared practical insights and real-world examples showing how ethical practices can prevent disputes and build stronger, longer-lasting partnerships between franchisors and franchisees.
The event is part of DTI Iloilo’s broader initiative to equip entrepreneurs not only with technical skills but also with an ethical foundation that aligns business growth with responsible practices.
By instilling these values early, DTI aims to nurture a competitive yet principled franchising sector that contributes to Iloilo’s economic development.
