The Department of Trade and Industry Iloilo Provincial Office conducted a free product standards seminar on May 27, 2025, under its Consultancy, Advocacy and Networking initiative.
The seminar targeted construction and hardware retailers to stress the importance of complying with product standards that ensure public safety and structural integrity.
Retailers engaged with DTI experts to clarify regulations and discuss enforcement challenges.
Topics included the Philippine Standard mark, Import Commodity Clearance stickers, mandatory certification for certain products, steel product labeling, best sourcing practices and consumer rights.
The seminar is part of DTI’s broader effort to empower micro, small and medium enterprises by promoting regulatory awareness and fostering a business environment rooted in integrity and transparency.
As Iloilo grows as an economic hub in Western Visayas, initiatives like this highlight the critical role of quality assurance in protecting consumers and supporting sustainable development.
