DTI Iloilo conference equips MSMEs for greener growth

The Department of Trade and Industry’s Iloilo Provincial Office held the Industry Cluster Enhancement Conference, or ICE CON 2026, on July 9–10, 2026, bringing together entrepreneurs, industry experts, government agencies, and development partners to help micro, small, and medium enterprises adapt to an evolving business landscape.

The two-day conference featured expert-led discussions on agriculture, food processing, product design, branding, sustainability, and the circular economy—areas that support the growth and competitiveness of Iloilo’s priority industry clusters.

The Philippine Statistics Authority’s 2023 List of Establishments recorded 1.1 million micro establishments, 109,910 small establishments, and 4,763 medium establishments nationwide, underscoring the reach of programs aimed at improving MSME competitiveness.

Relvin B. Paragua of the Department of Agriculture Region VI discussed integrated farming systems, Jonelyn Navarra of Mountain Joe Integrated Farm tackled agricultural entrepreneurship, and Nidalyn P. Agsaluna of the Environmental Management Bureau Region VI presented sustainability and circular economy practices in coffee, cacao, and coconut farming.

Allen Daryl F. Asuelo of the Department of Science and Technology Guimaras, Mary Jade S. Tan of the Food and Drug Administration Region VI, and Catherine V. Taleon of Sunbursts Balay Tablea led sessions on food safety, processing, packaging, product quality, and market readiness.

The speakers also discussed the importance of halal and FDA compliance in helping businesses gain access to broader markets.

Nicole Carmel Dg. Obong of the Design Center of the Philippines discussed emerging consumer trends, while Ratchilisa B. Tecson of LICTON Industrial Corp. shared strategies for packaging and brand storytelling.

Lifestyle designer Percy J. Arañador presented visual merchandising strategies intended to strengthen product branding and market appeal.

The conference concluded with discussions on sustainable business practices led by Vincent T. De Paz of the Global Reporting Initiative Philippines, Ramon D. Uy Sr. of RU Foundry and Machine Shop Corp., and Martin Martinez of Rezbin.

The speakers emphasized that circular economy principles and green innovations can create long-term business value and strengthen resilience.

Through ICE CON 2026, DTI Iloilo continues to provide learning opportunities designed to help MSMEs innovate, adopt sustainable practices, improve product competitiveness, and pursue new market opportunities.
