IGBARAS, Iloilo — The Department of Trade and Industry Iloilo, through its Negosyo Center in Igbaras, conducted Shared Service Facility equipment testing and coffee roasting training for members of the Sitio Buyuan-Baras Coffee Growers Association in Sitio Buyuan, Barangay Tigbanaba.
The activity aimed to strengthen the technical capabilities of local coffee growers in operating post-harvest equipment and improving product quality through proper roasting techniques.
Participants were led by association President Anita Emano.
The initiative was spearheaded by Engr. Jonathan Tejida, officer in charge-division chief of the DTI Iloilo Provincial Office, in partnership with the local government unit of Igbaras.
Hands-on training and equipment testing were facilitated by Bernard Encio of D’Malt Industrial Sales Corp., together with Romie Orquina.
The sessions provided participants with practical knowledge in roasting processes and machinery operation to support value-adding activities and improve productivity.
Also present during the activity were Jessa Enano, representing officer in charge Leonie Erdao, and Barangay Tigbanaba Punong Barangay Gene Españo.
Their support contributed to the success of the initiative.
Through DTI’s Shared Service Facility program, local associations such as the Sitio Buyuan-Baras Coffee Growers Association gain access to modern equipment and shared production facilities.
The program helps beneficiaries improve efficiency, maintain product quality and strengthen their competitiveness in the market.
The Shared Service Facility program is one of DTI’s flagship initiatives supporting micro, small and medium enterprises by providing tools and technologies that help reduce costs and upgrade operations.
The initiative highlights DTI Iloilo’s commitment to empowering local coffee farmers and advancing the coffee industry in Igbaras through inclusive and sustainable enterprise development.
