The Department of Trade and Industry Iloilo gathered members of the bamboo industry cluster and micro, small and medium enterprises for a Bamboo Producers Meeting aimed at strengthening ongoing initiatives and setting strategic priorities for sector growth.
The meeting brought together key DTI officials and local stakeholders to discuss programs designed to enhance the province’s bamboo industry.
Attendees included OIC-Provincial Director Ma. Dorita D. Chavez; OIC-Division Chief and Supervising Trade-Industry Development Specialist Jonathan T. Tejida; Senior TIDS Florenda Abian; and TIDS and Industry Development Division Unit Head Shayne J. Taganao, along with representatives from various Iloilo-based bamboo enterprises.
Discussions centered on reinforcing the bamboo value chain through capacity building, technology upgrades, product innovation, and market expansion—core elements of DTI Iloilo’s strategy to boost the competitiveness and sustainability of bamboo producers.
A key highlight of the meeting was the election of officers for the newly formed Iloilo Bamboo Industry Association, which aims to unify producers, strengthen representation, and support collaborative projects to drive industry growth.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable bamboo production and long-term industry development, backed by continued support from DTI Iloilo.
