The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Guimaras, through its Consumer Protection Team, recently conducted a Consumer Awareness Drive at Desiderio C. Gange National High School in Sibunag.
The initiative was held in partnership with Negosyo Center Sibunag and the local consumer organization in the municipality.
A total of 38 students from Grades 10 and 11 actively participated in the session, which focused on educating them about their basic rights and responsibilities as consumers.
The information drive also covered key provisions of the Price Act, steps in filing consumer complaints, and available DTI programs and services.
Students engaged enthusiastically in the discussion, especially during the open forum, where they asked questions and voiced concerns on various consumer-related issues.
The interactive format encouraged a lively exchange of ideas and helped deepen the participants’ understanding of consumer protection.
“This activity is part of our commitment to empower the youth by providing them with the knowledge they need to make informed consumer decisions,” said a representative from DTI Guimaras.
The agency emphasized that awareness-building among students is vital in developing a vigilant and responsible consumer base.
DTI Guimaras continues to roll out education campaigns in schools to foster a culture of consumer awareness and protection across the province.
This ongoing effort aligns with the agency’s broader mission to build a well-informed and proactive consumer sector nationwide.
