The Department of Trade and Industry Iloilo provincial office, through its Negosyo Center in Tubungan, recently held a financial literacy seminar for more than 60 beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Program in Barangay Jolason, Tubungan, Iloilo.
Participants came from the barangays of Jolason, Ayubo, Igdampog Sur, Igdampog Norte, and Nagba, and are involved in an egg-laying production project.
To help them sustain and grow their small enterprises, the seminar focused on basic budgeting, tracking income and expenses, saving strategies, and setting financial goals.
DTI business counselor Niño Eder of the Tubungan Negosyo Center facilitated the activity, which aimed to help participants better manage the income they earn from their livelihood.
Many of the beneficiaries are first-time microentrepreneurs and welcomed the practical advice shared during the session.
The initiative was conducted in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, with support from Project Development Officer II Abelito Lima.
It forms part of DTI’s ongoing efforts to empower communities by strengthening the foundations of their livelihood—starting with sound financial management.
The activity is one of several being implemented by DTI through its Negosyo Centers across Iloilo to build more resilient, self-sustaining local enterprises.
